What is data?
The collection of raw facts and figures is called data.
Types of data:
The text consists of words, sentences, and paragraphs.
Text is stored in the form of ASCII codes. 1101101
ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange and it is a seven-bit coding scheme for computers.
It refers to the ability to manipulate words, lines, and pages.
Numeric dataconsists of digits from 0 to 9.
It can be a positive or negative number.
There are two types of numeric data
. Integers (+56, -90 etc.)
. Real (2.34, -8.97, etc.)
The image consists of charts, graphs, pictures, and freehand drawings.
The datais transferred in the form of 8 bits pattern.
Different types of images have different extensions on the basis of their sizes and quality.
Sound is a representation of audio.
Sound is converted into digital code by sampling the sound waves 44056 times per sound segment.
Each sample is converted into a 16-bit number.
It is produced by the camera.
It is a combination of images and it conveys the idea of motion.
It creates actions and movements.
The information in raw form is called data. So we say that the measurement, number, quantities, characters, or symbols on which operations are performed by a computer and may be stored on media. Datacan also be defined as any fact and figure is called data.
Types of data
As long as datacommunication is concerned there are basically two types of datais used. Below we discuss each type in detail.
The datawhich is represented in a physical way and representing by physical properties and can be express any value along a continuous scale is called analog data. The analog clock is a simple example of analog datawhere change continues. Sound ways are also examples if analog data.
Discrete and discontinuous representations of information are called digital data. The most electronic devices such as computers, cameras, mobile phones stored and processed the datainformation of the number are called digital data. These numbers are in the form of the binary number means that 0 and 1 which represent the switches on or off. For example when we store the audio datain the form of ones and zeros. The audio device such as cd player etc read these ones and zeros and translate into actual signals. Computer software is a collection of numeric codes that tell the computer what to do this is also an example of digitaldata.
